Someone could spend hours or days describing each one of the beaches worth visiting in Corfu. The options are endless and you can always find a place that suites your taste and mood. You can choose either to relax or party, with beaches that are sand or pebble, or organized or secluded, the island has it all. With so many choices we thought we would help you decide in our new blog series. To kick things off, we grabbed three beaches definitely worth visiting if you’re dropping by the southern Corfu. Best off all each are easily accessible by car, quad and bike.
Located near the village Agios Mattheos at the south west of Corfu. This beach combines a long stretched beach covered with soft sand and a green hillside covering the area These characteristics create a unique and relaxing environment for the visitors.
The beach is well organized, giving you the option of sun-beds, umbrellas, beach bars, and traditional restaurants nearby, but without the crowds (like Sidari, Benitses, etc).
For those who are into exploring, there is the option of renting a pedalo or a boat in order to explore the numerous isolated beaches and bays in the surrounding area which are only accessible by sea.

Next up is Chalikounas. This is an ideal place for outdoor enthusiasts, water sports lovers and people who generally like to enjoy their vacation in a relaxing and peaceful environment. If you find yourself to be in any of those categories, you are going to adore Chalikounas.
The natural beauty is astonishing. The sandy coastline spans 3km and is a strip of land which divides Lake Korission and the Adriatic Sea. Nature lovers may also find interest in the fact that Lake Korission is an extremely significant wetland accompanied by a dense forest of cedar trees, which makes this area unique and a great place to explore.
This beach is quite secluded, with only a couple of traditional restaurants and two beach bars that provide deck chairs and parasols, a ways away from the beach. If you are planning to drop by, prepare in advance.
It is also one of the best kite and windsurfing spots on the island with the windy nature of the west coast of Corfu.

Issos (Agios Georgios region)
Our final and top choice is Issos, located just south of Chalikounas. Yes the landscape might be similar to the previous beach, but there is always something about this place that leaves us speechless. Maybe it’s the vast coastline, the enormous sand dunes or the soft golden sand, but something keeps us coming back.
Apart from the municipal kiosk, which actually operates as a beach bar, only a hotel exists at most southern tip of the region. This means that even during high season you can always find an isolated spot to relax.
This area is quite sheltered from the high winds of the western Corfu and features shallow water making it ideal for a truly relaxing day at the beach. The sand dunes, the landscape and the tranquillity combined with the fantastic view of the sunset will definitely make your visit to Issos a captivating experience.
